Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks with Prince Edward Island Premier Dennis King

Today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Prince Edward Island Premier Dennis King about the COVID-19 pandemic and other shared priorities.

Prime Minister Trudeau thanked Premier King for his leadership and ongoing collaboration. The two leaders discussed the outbreaks in Charlottetown and Summerside and the testing underway in the province. They highlighted the use of rapid tests, which helped ensure reliable results were available quickly. They also spoke about the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, and the partnership between both governments to deliver safe, effective vaccines to the people of Prince Edward Island.

The Prime Minister and the Premier also discussed universal basic income, early learning and child care, the Canada Health Transfer, and support for the tourism sector. They agreed on the importance of continuing to work together on these and other shared priorities, such as fighting climate change and protecting the environment, and creating jobs and economic growth.
