Yesterday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau spoke with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe to discuss the COVID-19 pandemic and the rising number of cases in Saskatchewan.

The Prime Minister reiterated that the Government of Canada remains ready to respond to any requests from the Government of Saskatchewan and encouraged the Premier to submit specific needs as they emerge. He committed to working with the province to provide additional supports to keep people safe.

The two leaders also spoke of the importance of continuing to increase vaccination rates throughout the province. They agreed that vaccination is the most effective tool against COVID-19 and encouraged everyone in Saskatchewan and all Canadians to get vaccinated.

The Prime Minister and Premier also talked about their commitment to working with Indigenous, rural, and remote communities to encourage vaccine uptake. The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to have people’s backs in Saskatchewan and to do whatever it takes until we end this pandemic.

The Prime Minister and Premier re-committed to working together and to remain in touch.
