Celebrate Recreation and Parks Month in Mississauga by signing up for summer programs or visit a nearby park. The choice is yours, but if you’re looking for activities to try now, you can also look at our Recreation and Parks Month calendar.

Upcoming activities in Mississauga include:

Summer camps
Due to popular demand, additional camps have been added this summer and begin on July 3 for children age four to 12. These aren’t your average camps either; learn about museums, sports, outer space, science, digital art, creative writing and more. Don’t wait too long, register soon!

Making waves at outdoor pools

The warm weather is here and it’s the best time to make a splash in one of our seven outdoor pools. A swim membership is the easiest way to have unlimited access to swimming all summer! Take the time to review our swim schedule and learn more about swimming in the city!

  • Pre-season starts Saturday, June 17 to Friday, June 30 (with select swims)
  • Regular season starts Saturday, July 1 to Sunday, September 3

Let’s Play in the Park
Let’s Play in the Park is a free, half-day, fully supervised, outdoor drop-in program beginning on Monday, July 3, for children ages six to 12 years old. A mix of games, sports, crafts, theme days and special events will be organized to ensure a fun time! Participation is based on first come, first served basis, including registered and drop-in participants.

ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING
Looking for some hidden recreational gems across Mississauga? Here are some suggestions you may not have considered or known about:

Outdoor fitness
Enjoy an outdoor workout at one of our many parks near you! If you’re in the mood to spend lots of time outside, consider visiting one of our newest outdoor fitness amenities at Churchill Meadows Community Centre and Mattamy Sports Park. There are two lit artificial soccer fields (one with a seasonal dome), a playground, a skate park, a multi-purpose court and a spray pad. You can also head inside and take a dip in the 25-metre, six-lane pool or therapeutic pool.

Outdoor games galore
Do you enjoy some friendly competition? Visit Meadowvale Community Centre and Lake Aquitaine to test your game skills. There are outdoor backgammon, snakes and ladders and chess game tables available for you to enjoy.

Trails at River Grove
Walk along the trails close to River Grove Community Centre and finish your day with a visit to the steam room or a soak in the whirlpool with great views of nature, the trail, and if you’re lucky, maybe even some of the wildlife in the area.

Beach volleyball
Summer is an excellent time for some beach volleyball and volleyball enthusiasts to play at two City locations. Lakefront Promenade and Huron Park Recreation Centre offer beach volleyball courts to enjoy the sport and some sunshine!

There are countless ways to stay active and healthy. Recreation and Park Month is a movement that promotes the benefits of recreation and parks for physical, social, and environmental health. The City is proud to participate in Recreation and Park Month to promote local programs and events, parks and facilities that are available for all citizens to enjoy.
