MONTREAL, Sept. 9, 2019 / CNW Telbec / – The Borough of Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension and the Cirque du Soleil Group are pleased to present the Parcours Scène Contest for a 12 th year . For the Cirque du Soleil Group, this competition is part of its commitment to the community of Saint-Michel and its mission to use the arts for a positive impact on young people. For its part, the borough encourages cultural succession by enabling young people to realize their dream of creation.

This year, the Parcours Scène Contest joins forces with the Festival Vue sur la Relève to launch the candidacy period of this brand new edition in collaboration with the Union of Artists and Diversité artistique Montréal. The competition, which now accompanies one artist each year over a two-year period, encourages the emergence of emerging artists in the borough’s performing arts. The partners will invest an approximate value of $ 15,000 over two years to offer the laureate this support, thus contributing to the development of his career. Artists have until Thursday, October 31, 2019 to submit their application.

Contest procedure
After having analyzed the candidates’ files, the jury will select the finalists who will have the opportunity to present an excerpt of the show as part of the Claude-Léveillée House of Culture program in November of this year. At the end of this stage, the jury will choose the laureate. The partners will then plan the accompanying program for the artist who will have the chance to present his entire show at the Festival Vue sur la Relève in 2022.
