Toronto Blue Jays Beat the St Louis Cardinals, 10 – 3

The Toronto Blue Jays were back at home hosting the St Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night.  It was the first of a quick 2 game set between the 2 ball clubs.

The Blue Jays headed into this game on a winning streak having won 8 of their last 9 games. They have the 3rd best record in major league baseball and they are 7 – 1 under new interim manager and coach John Schneider.

39 756 fans were in attendance at the Rogers Center today.

Jose Berrios started on the mound for the Blue Jays.  Pallante started on the mound for the Cardinals.

The Cardinals got on the board first with a quick homerun in the top of the first inning but Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a 2 run homerun in the bottom of the 1st inning (his 21st home run of the season and 62nd RBI), to put the Jays up 2 – 1.  An RBI base hit by Chapman gave the Blue Jays another run and they led 3 – 1 after 1 inning of play.

The Cardinals came back to score a couple runs in the third to tie the game 3 – 3.

In the 6th inning George Springer hit a Grand Slam Home Run to put the Jays up 8 – 3

Alejandro Kirk hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 7th to extend the Jays lead to 9 – 3.

A two out RBI single by Espinal scored another run in the 7th.  Toronto Blue Jays lead 10 – 3 after 7 innings of play heading into the eighth inning.

Jeremy Beasley came in to close out the game in the 9th.

With the win the Toronto Blue Jays are now 2 games up on the Rays for the 2nd wild card spot in the American League.
